About this pack

Beadwork and embroidery are trim: they run along an edge, a hem, a seam or a border, and they are miserable to sculpt one bead at a time. These 30 brushes lay a beaded or embroidered band down a path in a single stroke — in Substance Painter and in ZBrush — and ship as flat alphas as well, for anyone working somewhere else.

What is included

  • 30 beadwork and embroidery trim brushes for Substance Painter, with parameters exposed
  • The same 30 as ZBrush brushes
  • Alphas at 4K and 16-bit, in PNG, PSD, EXR and TIFF
  • A preview render of every brush
  • A written guide and a recorded walkthrough of the Path tool workflow

Path tool compatible

That compatibility is the part that changes how the work feels. In Substance Painter, draw the path along the hem of a coat, then move it — the beading re-flows rather than needing to be repainted, so the decision about where the trim runs stays reversible until the end. The exposed parameters do the same for appearance: colour is a slider, not a repaint, so one brush covers the gold bullion on a ceremonial jacket and the dull glass beading on a peasant dress.

In ZBrush the same 30 load as brushes you can run along a curve over a sculpted garment, which puts the trim into the highpoly ahead of a bake. The result is that the beading exists in the sculpt and in the texture as the same shape, and the bake agrees with the paint.

Where you are in neither program, the flat alphas cover it. At 16-bit they go into any height or displacement input without banding across a bead, and the PSD versions come apart if you want to change the spacing or take out a row. 3D-Coat, Substance Designer and Photoshop all read them directly.

About Alphas & Brushes

These sets are the finishing detail that decides whether an asset reads as real. The alphas are rendered from actual geometry rather than traced from photos, so edges stay crisp under projection and the height data holds up when you push it into a normal map.

Brush presets are included for both Substance Painter and ZBrush, with spacing and falloff already dialled in.
