About this pack

Glaze is the thin vitreous coat fired over a clay body, and it is what makes a ceramic read as ceramic: light travels a little way into it, pools in the low points and breaks over every raised edge. Volume 14 packages thirty of those surfaces as Substance Painter smart materials, for prop artists texturing pottery, tiles, tableware, porcelain figures and any painted-and-fired object that has to look kiln-finished rather than moulded in plastic.

What you get

  • 30 glaze smart materials in SPSM format, layered and editable in Substance Painter
  • 30 matching glaze PBR texture sets at 4K, 4096 × 4096
  • JPEG preview renders of every material in the set

Each glaze exists twice, and the second copy is the one that travels. The SPSM drops onto a mesh inside Substance Painter and keeps its layer stack, so the generators driving the edge wear and the pooling stay live and can be re-tuned per asset. The flat 4K set is that same surface baked down to maps, which puts the look into any renderer or engine with a PBR workflow — Blender, Unreal, Unity, Marmoset, or a Substance Designer graph you are blending it into.

On a real prop a glaze is rarely the whole story. The usual build is a clay or plaster base for the body, this pack for the fired coat, then a mask letting the base show through at the rim and the foot where a glaze would have been wiped thin. Because the materials arrive layered rather than flattened, that masking happens inside the smart material rather than on top of it, and the roughness break between glazed and bare comes with it.

The set targets the current release of Substance Painter. Open it in the latest version so every generator and filter in the stack resolves as it was authored.

Every purchase includes free lifetime updates and a no-questions-asked 7 day money back guarantee.

About Smart Materials

Every set in this aisle is built the way I build materials for client work: layered, parametric and non-destructive. Nothing is baked flat, so you can open any material and change the base colour, the wear amount or the roughness breakup without starting over.

Each material ships alongside a rendered 4K PBR texture set — base colour, roughness, metallic, normal and height — so you can use it outside Substance Painter in Blender, Unreal, Unity or any renderer that speaks PBR.
