About this pack

Volume 17 of the 3DRedBox material series is plastic: thirty procedural smart materials for Substance Painter, with a 4K PBR texture set rendered at 4096 x 4096 for every one of them. It is aimed at prop, product and game artists whose asset lists are full of housings, handles, casings and containers rather than hero metal.

What you get

  • 30 high-quality plastic smart materials (SPSM)
  • 30 4K plastic PBR texture sets at 4096 x 4096
  • JPEG preview renders

Thirty is a deliberate number for this subject. Plastic covers an enormous spread of surface behaviour — polished, matte, textured, painted, worn back to the base colour — and a pack of five leaves you authoring the other twenty-five yourself. With thirty stacks on the shelf the session starts by auditioning instead of authoring: drop three onto the model, keep the one whose scuffing sits where the part would actually be gripped, and tune from there.

Each material is a live layer stack, so none of it is final. The masks read the mesh's own bakes, which is why the wear lands on the edges and in the recesses the geometry actually has rather than in a pattern painted into an image. That is the working difference between a smart material and a downloaded map, and it is why the same thirty files keep behaving on models they were never authored against.

The 4096 x 4096 texture sets are the export half of the pack. They open anywhere a PBR workflow does, which for this volume the studio lists as Marmoset, Photoshop and Substance Designer alongside Painter. Opening the SPSM files needs a current version of Substance Painter.

Every purchase includes free lifetime updates and a no-questions-asked 7 day money back guarantee.

About Smart Materials

Every set in this aisle is built the way I build materials for client work: layered, parametric and non-destructive. Nothing is baked flat, so you can open any material and change the base colour, the wear amount or the roughness breakup without starting over.

Each material ships alongside a rendered 4K PBR texture set — base colour, roughness, metallic, normal and height — so you can use it outside Substance Painter in Blender, Unreal, Unity or any renderer that speaks PBR.
