About this pack

Volume three takes a different cut through the same problem as the rest of the hard-surface alpha series. Where the other volumes are filed by what a detail is — bolts, vents, doors — these 300 are filed by the form it is built from, which is closer to how you actually search while blocking out a panel: a triangular cut here, a circular recess there, something complex to break up a long flat face.

Why sorting by form matters

A parts library answers the question of what goes here. A form library answers what shape is needed, which is the question you are actually asking while a surface is still grey and the design is not settled. Cutting a circular recess and then deciding it is an access port is faster than hunting for an access port and finding that none of them fit.

The alphas suit ZBrush and Substance Painter equally: drag them out as height stamps on a subdivided plane, or stack them as height layers and let the bake resolve the intersections. The 16-bit PNG and TIFF versions matter for anything that gets baked, because a shallow 8-bit bevel bands visibly once it becomes a normal map. The layered PSD versions are there for the times a shape is nearly right — pull one element out, scale it, flatten, and the alpha is yours. The ABR set drops the whole library into Photoshop for anyone laying panels out on a UV shell first, and Blender reads the same maps through a displacement or bump input without conversion.

About Alphas & Brushes

These sets are the finishing detail that decides whether an asset reads as real. The alphas are rendered from actual geometry rather than traced from photos, so edges stay crisp under projection and the height data holds up when you push it into a normal map.

Brush presets are included for both Substance Painter and ZBrush, with spacing and falloff already dialled in.
